A Check for how much? 20040325 -- 9:56:13 AM

Ok. So far so good. The REPSA (Real Estate Property Sales Agreement) looked fine and I should be getting the earnest money to the builder today. That would mean that occupying the new house is right around the corner.

Just an update...  -- 9:10:10 PM

Well, they tell me that the contingencies I need to close the deal will be added to the sales contract. This is fairly important; otherwise, earnest money could be forfeited by an outcome that I have absolutely no control over. I'm supposed to meet tomorrow to sign paperwork and hopefully close the deal, so to speak.

Can a deal get any worse? 20040316 -- 7:59:59 PM

So I'm in the process of buying a new house. It's an early-occupancy, with closing happening now + 3 months or so. Not unheard of; in fact, it's quite commonfor one reason or another. The problem is no contracter wants to trust the purchaser. It's like they want your right arm and you won't get it back in the unlikely event that Bigfoot marries the Lock-ness Monster between now and the closing of the loan.

I'm putting a buttload of money down as earnest money, and I'm taking all of the expense on of moving into this house. It's not like, in complete good faith, I'm not going to follow through and get financing. I've been given about two-hundred and forty-seven green lights from the underwriter that everything is going to fall into place, that the stars are going to align, etc.; yet, it seems that the seller in their years of customer service experience seem to think that they are still doing ME the favor of making a profit on their hard work and craftsmanship. Bullshit.

The deal is this. Take my cash, and understand that I'm going to get financing. Don't dick me around and say that you're going to keep my huge chunk of change in the unlikely event that your precious piece of property is going to appraise at "bullshit" compared to the asking price. Good grief. More on this tomorrow as the story reaches it's climax.

Potty all by myself! 20040312 -- 10:05:58 PM

Being a dad is the coolest thing in the world. And the coolest part about it is rediscovering it every day.

My daughter is two and a half years old. And it's potty-training time in my household. She is the most independent child I know, and it was a major achievement in the last two days to begin "pottying" by herself. Wednesday she did a number two, and tonight it was "going tinkle."

I love it!

Hitting the town... 20040309 -- 8:43:29 PM

Well, it's been kind of a wierd week. This last weekend I went to the Red Lion, a local "bar/club" and actually sang karaoke with the fieldgoal kicker of the Seattle Seahawks. He and many of their cheerleaders were in town supporting the Special Olympics, which is just fantastic. So that was pretty interesting.

In addition to that, last Thursday I bowled a 267 in league competition. I've been told a few times that I really need to look into going professional, as I truly was barely trying. This week, I've been trying to get a couple of Rush tickets to go to some concerts in July. Rush has been around for over 30 years now. It's amazing that I've basically grown up listening to this band.
